Hello Dr. Copeland,
I came across your website and I have a quick question that I hope you can help me with.
I am currently in the Middle East and I had all of my nine silver fillings removed. I had them done by a normal dentist, which I am learning can be dangerous due to mercury vapor.
I didn’t know that earlier. I feel fatigued and I have chest pain. I am afraid it’s due to the unsafe way of removing the fillings.
Is there anything I can do now?
Thanks for any information you can give me.
Eman Q
Good question, Eman.
The simplest thing to do would be to make sure your elimination pathways are open. This means gut is moving food through efficiently; the bowel should move at least once a day.
Stay well hydrated, keeping you kidneys functioning well…and beware of drugs that are metabolized in the kidneys. Make sure you sweat well, and when you do, shower immediately.
Include sulfur-containing foods in your diet such as eggs, meats, legumes, cruciferous vegetables, and chlorella. Sulfur attracts Hg and will carry it out out through elimination pathways.
If everything else is in order, you can include a natural chelator such as cilantro.
When you get back into the states, contact Quicksilver Scientific to find a practitioner in you area that will order Quicksilver’s mercury speciation test. It is a blood/urine/hair analysis which will tell you your overall mercury levels, how well you eliminate it and in what forms (therefore from what sources) the mercury is from. The test can tell the practitioner how much mercury clean-up your body has to do.
Since you have access to the internet, I suggest you view some of Dr Chris Shade’s information on just this topic. I have heard Dr. Shade lectures in several venues from Int’l Assoc. of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, the Integrative Biological Dental Medicine program and Huggins. This will help you will understand the process much more clearly.
My best,
Dr. Cynthia
